It is with very heavy hearts that we report to you that Cumberland Valley Youth Ruby Association Commissioner, Frank Lentz passed away from an apparent heart attack on Saturday August 22nd while vacationing with his beloved family in Ocean City MD. Frank was just 44 years old. At this time our prayers and sympathies are with his wife, Bretni and his two children, Frank V and Dagny, both of whom were following in his footsteps as players in the youth program.
As I write this, a memorial gathering is planned for Monday from 10:30-12:30 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut Street in Camp Hill. Please be aware that strict social distancing will be practiced.
Frank was tremendously dedicated to the sport of rugby and had leadership roles in many organizations supporting it. In addition to his role as Commissioner at CVYRA, he also served as a coach in the league. He has been the president of the Old Gaelic Rugby Club, past president of the Eastern PA Rugby Union, and a member of the USA Rugby Congress. So much was the sport a part of his life, when he was not playing or administering, he was refereeing. He also volunteered as an EMT and on several other youth sports organizations. While the loss to the sport will be felt at all levels his legacy of service will be remembered across many generations. For CVYRA, when the flags start to go up on the pitch next summer, we will remember Frank and his service to the organization and that his spirit will be there guiding us to “play on”
